LACSON: POLITICAL MONGRELS CAN’T BUY POLITICAL PEDIGREES

No matter how much they try, political mongrels can never buy political pedigrees.

This was how Sen. Panfilo M. Lacson summed up the political sniping of erstwhile allies in the Genuine Opposition (GO) who helped administration senators compose the new majority bloc in the Senate.

“No matter how the four stragglers of the so-called Genuine Opposition try to define their breed, they won’t be able to present an authentic certificate to disabuse the minds of our voters and supporters. They will always be remembered as political mongrels who turned their backs on their colleagues and helped compose the new majority bloc in the Senate in collaboration with mostly administration senators,” Lacson said.

He added that no matter how hard they try to justify their actions, they will never succeed in doing so because they violated an agreement that all opposition senators will stand as one united bloc.

Lacson earlier pointed out that some of the “political mongrels” were elected into office not because of their individual personalities, but because of their affiliation with the political opposition.

Thus, he said their decision to join forces with administration senators to form a new majority bloc has betrayed their claim of being opposition senators.

“No matter how they try to justify the unjustifiable, they will always fall short,” he said.

On the other hand, Lacson said he and the seven other remaining opposition senators will continue to play their role to check the abuses of the executive branch, even if they will be in the minority.

“As for the eight of us who have chosen to remain, we will continue to pay our role to fiscalize and check the abuses of the executive branch in a manner we know best and no matter what the cost. We now leave it to the wisdom of the people to judge who among us belong to the real and true opposition,” he said.
